South Platte Services provides recycling dumpster service designed specifically for the foothills and mountain corridor. We haul to a certified recycling facility that accepts a broader range of materials than most mountain recycling services, all mixed together in a single container. There is no sorting required by the customer!

Why Recycling Matters

Most people are making a genuine effort to recycle. The problem isn’t intent, it’s whether the materials actually make it to a processing facility, or just end up in a landfill anyway.

Contamination is the primary reason recyclable loads get rejected. Food residue, plastic bags, and non-recyclable materials mixed into an otherwise clean load can cause the entire batch to be redirected to landfill disposal. This even includes the clean cardboard, rinsed bottles, and sorted glass which were correctly recycled.

Recycling works, but only when it’s done right. That’s why we’re committed to keeping it simple, and educating our customers on best practices so that what goes into the bin actually gets recycled.

Recycling Made Simple. No Sorting Required.

WHAT WE ACCEPT

The Simple Version

You can recycle most everyday materials, including:

  • Cardboard and paper
  • Plastic Bottles and tubs (#1-#7)
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Aluminum foil and pie tins

All accepted materials can be mixed together in one container with no sorting required.

The Golden Rule: Empty · Clean · Dry

Every item must be empty, clean, and dry before it goes in. A single contaminated item can cause an entire load to be rejected and sent to the landfill — including everything clean that came with it.

The Detailed List

Paper & Cardboard

  • Corrugated cardboard boxes (flattened)
  • Cardboard packaging and shipping materials
  • Newspaper, including all inserts and ads
  • Magazines, catalogs, and phone books. Remove plastic bags, CDs, and magnets first
  • Office paper: all colors and types (staples, paperclips, tape, and sticky notes are fine)
  • Bulk mail and junk mail
  • Brown paper bags
  • Chipboard and paperboard: cereal and food boxes, soda carrier boxes, tissue holders, microwave food boxes (not the cooking sleeves), paper towel and toilet paper tubes, paper egg cartons

If you can tear it, we can take it. No Tyvek (polyethylene fiber) or overnight mailing folders. No wax-lined cardboard.

Plastics

We accept plastic bottles and tubs (plastics #1 through #7). Common examples include soda, water, and juice bottles; milk jugs (no paper cartons); liquid detergent and cleaning supply bottles; condiment bottles; shampoo bottles and liquid soap dispensers; peanut butter jars (please rinse); and butter and yogurt tubs.

Remove screw-on caps before placing bottles in the container. Only bottles and tubs are accepted. No clamshell or to-go containers, no plastic egg cartons.

Metal

  • All food and beverage cans: steel, tin, bi-metal, and aluminum
  • Empty aerosol cans (must be completely empty) including shaving cream and hairspray; labels are fine
  • Aluminum foil
  • Pie tins

Do not crush aluminum cans.

Glass

  • Glass bottles and jars (food and beverage only)

No windshield glass, ceramics, or Pyrex containers.

What Does Not Belong in a Recycling Container

Contaminated loads get rejected at the facility — which means recyclable materials end up in the landfill. When in doubt, leave it out.

  • No six-pack ring holders

Recycling Dumpsters for Every Need

Residential Recycling: Homeowners throughout the foothills generate significant recyclable waste during moves, renovations, cleanouts, and everyday living. Our residential recycling dumpsters provide a convenient, practical solution without requiring multiple trips to a distant recycling facility.

Commercial Recycling: Businesses in Evergreen, Golden, Conifer, and surrounding communities produce ongoing streams of cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, and glass waste. Our commercial service provides reliable scheduled pickup so your business can manage recyclable materials efficiently and demonstrate a clear commitment to environmental responsibility.

Job Site & Construction Recycling: Renovation and construction projects generate large volumes of cardboard packaging, paper materials, plastic containers, and metal cans. A dedicated recycling dumpster on your job site keeps recyclables separated from general debris and reduces landfill haul weight.

Why Choose South Platte Services?

South Platte Services has served Colorado mountain communities for more than 50 years. We understand the access challenges, steep driveways, and limited infrastructure that make waste management more complicated in the foothills than in urban areas.

Property owners and businesses choose us because we provide:

  • Reliable delivery and pickup on mountain properties with tight or steep access
  • A broader range of accepted materials, all in one container, no sorting required
  • Hauling to a certified recycling facility committed to keeping materials out of the landfill
  • Transparent pricing with no surprises
  • A locally operated team that has been part of this community for decades, not a regional hauler passing through
